The Bears defense proved to be too much for the high-octane Brown's offense to overcome.
They almost did it, however, on a late fourth quarter drive. Frank Ryan connected with Brewer for a 27-yard gain, and Jim Brown got his first break-away of the game with a 38 yard run to the Chicago 13.
With less than a minute to play Ryan passed to Gary Collins in the end-zone but Rosey Taylor stepped in front to pick it off, returning it 46 yards to put it away for Chicago.
Ryan was 6 of 19 passing for only 89 yards and two interceptions. Brown ran for 122 and Ernie Green added 66. Collins caught 3 passes for 51 and was shut out in the second half.
For the Bears Bill Wade was 12 of 21 for 139 yards, one interception. Ronnie Bull led Chicago rushers with 69 yards, Willie Galimore ran for 49. Mike Ditka led the receivers with 6 catches for 61 yards.
